Located a few kilometres from Padua, the Euganean Hills are one of the most surprising destinations in the Veneto region. The hills are included in the Regional Park and are rich in biodiversity, scenic trails, small villages and hot springs. The land is a perfect combination of historical and artistic heritage and natural landscape: Venetian villas, monasteries, castles and gardens alternate with chestnut woods, olive trees and vineyards, offering unique views in every season.

The villages of the Euganean Hills are centuries-old; they date back to Roman times and bear witness to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the dominion of the Serenissima Republic of Venice. In this land, time flows more slowly and every spot treasures architectural beauties, local traditions and scenic landscapes. Some places are more renowned, others are small hidden gems that also deserve to be explored.

The poet’s house is worth a visit as well as the village church and his tomb. In Arquà Petrarca, you will also find several artisanal shops as well as bars and cafés that offer local food and wine and also a number of cultural events and exhibitions.

With its Carrara castle surrounded by a centuries-old park, Este enchants visitors at first glance. Don’t miss the Atestino National Museum, which hosts the remains of the ancient Venetians, a population that first inhabited this region. Este is a lively village, rich in culture and events that shows a perfect balance between tradition and modern lifestyle.

Monselice is a town full of spirituality and history and renowned for the Sanctuary of the Seven Churches that leads to the Rocca. The walk, surrounded by greenery, is an evocative experience for both believers and lovers of beauty. From the top of the hill, you can enjoy a panoramic view over the Euganean Hills and the Po Valley. Noble villas, Romanesque churches and cobbled streets give Monselice a charming and intimate atmosphere.
Valsanzibio is a small village that houses one of the Baroque wonders of Veneto: the Garden of Villa Barbarigo. The hedge maze, the symbolic fountains and ornamental water features come from a fairytale world of allegories and spirituality. Walking through the paths of the garden is a meditative experience to be enjoyed calmly. The village of Valsanzibio, although tiny, exudes a discreet and elegant charm.
The hill villages offer much more than a walk: castles overlooking the vineyards, frescoed Venetian villas, Romanesque churches and perfect views for taking a photo of the sunset. The ideal itinerary alternates history and nature with paths that connect the various villages to each other. Whether being on foot, riding a bike or riding in a car, the journey will offer dramatic views and unexpected places to visit.

Galzignano Terme with its natural thermal springs, Baone with its open views and rural atmosphere, Cinto Euganeo with the Cava Bomba Museum and trekking trails. In these places, you can rediscover a slow rhythm and authentic relationships as well as open air markets, village festivals and artisan workshops.
